Farewell to the MD-11
From 1992 to 2014 many, if not all of us, were lucky enough to fly and serve on the MD-11 flying the World Airways colors. As a follow-on to the McDonald Douglas DC-10, the MD-11 provided comfortable and highly reliable aircraft for the aviation industry and it served World Airways for many years. Many of us were trained at the McDonald Douglas Plant in Long Beach, CA, and considered it the backbone of World’s military contract and charter operations. In 2014, KLM was the last commercial carrier to discontinue use of the MD-11 for operations. A great aircraft is leaving commercial aviation and we will miss her…….
